The Maternal, Neonatal, Child Health and Nutrition Project

MNCHN

The Maternal, Neonatal, Child Health and Nutrition Project, funded by ADRA Netherlands and ADRA International is improving health outcomes for young children and pregnant and lactating mothers in the Mahottari and Sarlahi district of Madhesh Province, where there are high levels of malnutrition. Through this project, we are providing technical assistance at the national and provincial levels and strengthening screening and growth monitoring services at the local level by providing ‘anthropometric nutrition assessment’ equipment, infrastructure upgradation to establish nutrition corner centre (NCC) and outpatient therapy centre (OTC) and Capacity building for Health Service Providers (HSPs). This project is implemented to uplift the demand as well as the supply side of the MNCHN services through deputing Community Health Facilitators as well as care group volunteers. We are also educating community-level mother groups about nutrition and breastfeeding. This project is collaborating with the local agriculture sector to improve access to diverse, locally available foods for impoverished, food-insecure, and vulnerable households.
