For the past 29 years, I have served as a Female Community Health Volunteer (FCHV), driven by a personal experience of lacking knowledge during my first childbirth. This motivated me to learn and help others. Through the Health Reform Project, I received training in Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCH), which deepened my understanding of maternal and child health. I now lead monthly mothers' group meetings in my community. I’m proud to report zero maternal deaths or malnutrition cases in my ward. Supporting mothers with accurate health information has become both my passion and life’s purpose.

Sita Khatri from Kanchan 4 Chapajapti transformed her life through confidence building, knowledge, and opportunity. Once lacking skills, leadership, and awareness of livestock services, she joined the TERAI Project and received training in livestock management, business planning, leadership, savings, and AI services. She now runs a dairy farm with a cow and a buffalo and serves as leader farmer and treasurer of the Sagarmatha Women Farmers Group. She leads meetings, manages finances, shares knowledge, and connects with local services. Milk production increased from 12–13 to 16–17 liters daily, covering household expenses. She gained confidence, independence, and respect, proving women can achieve self reliance through dairy farming and uplift families and communities.

“Before being involved in the RELIEF project, I reared goats traditionally in an open shed. The goats were highly vulnerable to environmental stress and were frequently attacked by wild animals. This caused me to lose confidence in livestock farming as a reliable source of livelihood. I joined the RELIEF project and received training on improved livestock management, focusing on the importance of modern goat sheds for animal health, safety, and productivity. They also supported me financially to construct a goat shed with a capacity for 25 goats. With this support and training, I have enhanced my goat-rearing skills, and the number of goats has now increased to 24. This has boosted both my confidence and my income, helping to meet our family’s needs. I plan to rear more goats in the future.”
