ADRA Nepal Board Member Visits GOAL II Project

We were pleased to welcome  Pastor Umesh Pokhrel, ADRA Nepal Board member to join us on a monitoring visit for the GOAL II project. He accompanied Country Director, Tom Pignon and Livelihoods Team Lead, Kabir Ratna Sthapit on the visit to Lumbini. The objective of the visit was to track and verify the status of the plan versus implementation progress, impacts, and learnings of the GOAL II project and assess the response of beneficiaries and stakeholders, especially local governments (LGs). At the beginning of the visit, Mr. Purna Lal Shrestha (Senior Project Officer) conducted a short introductory meeting providing a brief overview and current status of the project. During the visit, the monitoring team focused on the project’s process, impacts, learnings, and linkage and coordination with LGs. The group met with beneficiaries, the project team, representatives of both partners and officials of the municipality and rural municipality. They also visited the field at project working areas of both districts and observed the project’s interventions, i.e., vegetable and goat enterprises, irrigation schemes, agriculture collection centers, goat dipping ponds, and livelihood sub-sectoral initiatives implemented in collaboration with LGs. The team visited both local government offices and met with senior officials. The officials of LGs appreciated the project’s contributions to agriculture commercialization, promotion of improved agriculture technologies and markets, infrastructure development, and GESI. The monitoring team thanked and appreciated the project team, implementing partners, and stakeholders, especially LGs, for their crucial contribution to the project’s success.
