Three years before, on 25 April 2015, a devastating earthquake in Nepal left 9,000 people killed and 22000 injured. To commemorate the day, GOAL project in coordination with local government and school organized mock drills on earthquake at Jumrikanda of Pyuthan and Ghodagau of Rolpa districts.
During the events, the trained members of Community Based Disaster Management Committees (CDMCs), who had previously received 5-day training on disaster response through the project, demonstrated and informed about light search and rescue (LSAR) and first aid operation to the students and local community. The event was successful in sensitizing and informing the audience on the basic actions to be taken during the earthquake disaster situation. Around 200 audience were present in the event.
GOAL project is funded by Australian Government through DFAT and implemented by ADRA Nepal and partners.
