Good Governance and Livelihood - GOAL

 

The project aims to improve the livelihood of the vulnerable groups and communities of these districts through income generation options, strengthened local governance and environmental management strategies. So far, the project has been focusing on activities oriented to increase the income of the beneficiaries mainly women through micro-enterprise and entrepreneurship development initiatives, to strengthen the capacity and competency of civil societies through leadership and management skills and to enhance resiliency of targeted VDC and vulnerable community through environmental planning and management systems.

Increase income of vulnerable user groups through micro-enterprise and entrepreneurship development initiatives
  • 1800 rural individuals (98% women) capacitated in business skills
  • 90 registered farmers’ groups formed reaching 1854 HHs
Strengthening the capacity and competency of civil societies through leadership and management skill
  • 352 community people (39% women) capacitated in leadership development
  • 120 Challenge Projects designed by community under facilitation of GOAL project
  • 14 Challenge Projects damaged due to earthquake were rehabilitated
Enhancing resiliency through environmental planning and management systems.
  • 12 VDCs and 36 vulnerable communities supported in designing and implementation of their adaption plan (LAPA and CBAP respectively)
  • 327 children are receiving 6-month long climate change and local adaptation classes
  • Partnership done with 12 cooperatives to be developed as Climate Resource Centers
  • 15 events of Special Days celebrated raising awareness on gender, child rights, early marriage, environment, and human rights.
