A government delegations comprising Secretary from Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens Chandra Kumar Ghimire, Member Secretary Rajendra Kumar Paudel and Deputy Director Durga Prasad Bhattarai from Social Welfare Council (SWC) recently visited Good Governance and Livelihood (GOAL) Project sites in Pyuthan and Rolpa districts. The team held interactions with Mayor and representatives of Sworgadwari Municipality and Chairperson of Runtigadhi Rural Municipality.
The team visited the project-promoted groups, conducted focus group discussions with members and observed the adoption of improved practices in the community. Similarly, the team also interacted with Challenge Project Committee members and individual entrepreneurs.
The team appreciated its effective coordination with local government, selection of communities, and success to address their needs as well as to empower them. Some suggestions were received from the delegates including need of commercial approach, greater market management interventions and expansion of extension services to sustain and upgrade the achievement. These insights have been taken for incorporating in upcoming second phase of the project.
GOAL Project is funded by Australian Government through DFAT, and ADRA Australia and implemented by ADRA Nepal in partnership with Rupantaran, FIRDO Nepal and RUDAS Nepal.
