ADRA Nepal promotes economic development and food security amongst economically disadvantaged population groups with an emphasis on women and marginalized communities.
Agricultural extension services, production/processing methods, collective marketing system and value chain integration are facilitated to improve livelihoods of small holder farmers. Some of the tools promoted are; commercial vegetable farming, livestock rearing, essential oil production and associated microenterprise development.
We improve input service markets by training community business facilitators/agrovets/animal health workers, building local capacity and mobilizing local resources through leadership and management training; all under a high degree of collaboration with the government and the local community.Additionally, our programs are designed to have a cross sector impact and be innovative in approach through promoting climate change resiliency with participatory selection of climate resistant crops and reducing information asymmetry/enhancing local planning among farmers using mobile technology respectively.
Together our current programs reach more than 50,000 households, substantially and sustainably improving lives.
