ADRA Nepal with its network around the globe provides short-term volunteering opportunities for interested candidates in remote schools of Nepal. This volunteering program, under the United for education program, aims to encourage youths or professionals to render their selfless service to promote better education to the children and youths of Nepal for better future.

ADRA Nepal has been initiating this volunteering opportunity since 2012 and so far, 14 volunteering groups from different ADRA network have visited Nepal. ADRA Nepal based on the need assessment identifies the most vulnerable school and requests the school management committee to identify the support that are crucial for delivering quality education to the students. Based on the request, ADRA Nepal prepares detailed plan and forwards the same to the interested volunteering group. So far, the connection team that have visited the schools under this program have painted classrooms, furnished libraries, built classrooms, cleaned toilets, restored drinking water facilities, fixed classroom ceilings, windows, doors, introduced extra curriculum activities and exchanged cultural practices with the students and the entire school management committee.

The volunteering groups are expected to work closely with the students to ensure cross cultural communication. Also, as a part of exposure visit the volunteers will be visiting different cultural heritage and historical places in Kathmandu and outside the capital city if the plan proposes so. We expect that this visit is a learning opportunity for the students and working professionals around the globe to know more about the culture, practices and education system in Nepal. Through this program, the students will have access to safer and resilient school buildings, hygienic and clean toilets, safe drinking water facilities, libraries with more books and enhance communication skills and practices.

ADRA Nepal is open for unique suggestions from the volunteering groups which supports to promote quality education to the students from the most disadvantaged and rural communities. If you are interested to learn more about the ADRA Connection program, kindly email us @
